"The magic thing about home is, it feels good to leave and it feels even better to come back"
Like I said, i'm from Ontario. However that's not where I feel like i'm really from. My dad grew up in Villemarie, Quebec; which yes makes my background french. Every year we go to Villemarie in the summer and sometimes for Christmas to. Ya for most of the year I live in Ontario but I REALLY live when i'm in Quebec. There's something about the fresh forest air and the smell of fires always burning. The feeling of wind on your face whether it's flying through the forest on an ATV or through the lake on a sail boat. There's the exhilarating thrill of catching the first fish of the day and filling your first bucket of wild blueberries. There's the small town hospitality and friendliness. Best of all, before bed every night, we gather around a fire , beer in hand, sing songs and laugh about the adventures we had. The sky flush with stars, free from the pollution of city sky's. The whole hearted attitude of my family and friends up there, is something I have never encountered in the cities around here.
I could tell you it's like poetry in the most miraculous form. The silence that falls over the lake followed by the quite sounds of chirping from the shore. The canoe splitting the water ever so gently, creating ripples in the once perfect reflection. Its peaceful. There are no cars near by, no loud city chatter; No blinking lights, or honking horns. It's you, the water and the silence.
So even though I have to go back to Ontario, back to the noisy cities, the buildings, the dull skies. It is not my home.
" Home is where your feet may leave, but your heart will always stay "
