Walking The World

Stop 1 on my life long goal to walk the world, in other words travel a lot, was to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. I went with my family for 7 days and took in all the culture I could. From the first day there it was breath taking and one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Day 1:

On the first day we did what everyone does, adjusted to the heat. That meant a day of swimming in pools and exploring the beach. Which might I add, the ocean, way colder then the pools. However it was so hot, the icy chill from the water was refreshing.

Day 2: On the second day I was a little more adventurous. My father and I went for a ride through the mountains; on horses. I've rode a horse before so it was a ton of fun. My dad on the other hand had not. Despite that, the ride through the mountains was beautiful and from the highest point of the trek, we could see the whole island. It was definitely something you don't see everyday.

Day 3:

On the third day we went to check out Ocean World. Now to be honest, I don't like these kinds of places. The idea of animals not being able to roam free upsets me but my family wanted to go so I gave in. To my surprise the animals really were in the large portions of the ocean not just tanks, but it's still not freedom.

We did pet and feed the dolphins and some of them swam right up to us in the water for hugs, which was really cool. I wanted to go swim with the sharks but no one else seemed to be up for that.

Day 4 and 5:

After 2 days of adventures we settled for a few relaxing days. There were all sorts of shows to watch at the resort, beach volleyball games, and dancing by the pool; so we kept busy. I took my opportunity early one morning to go for a run along the beach as well. It's definitely a lot better then running on boring side walks at home.

Day 6:

On the last day we spent at the resort before our flight home, we went to see some local wild life; Birds, lizards and snakes. The colours of these animals were gorgeous. So many vibrant colours compared to what i'm use to.

The island was really worth the visit!
